Dobbie, who was born in San Antonio, moved to Meridian in 1962. He began working at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, where he was employed until his retirement in 2008. As a 5th Degree Black Belt in Mixed Martial Arts, he began instructing in 1964 after opening DOBI-TE KARATE JUTSU KAI. Some of his first students were officers from the Meridian Police Department and he eventually branched out and taught many others, whom he deeply influenced. He was also an avid scuba diver, marathon runner and prolific artist. Dobbie cherished his family, friends and former students, but his greatest love was Jesus Christ. Dobbie lived by example and believed in Mind, Body and Spirit.
