Doby Mathis

Graveside services for Mr. Doby Mathis will be held @ 1:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Nick Holden officiating. Burial will follow graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home prior to graveside services.

Doby Mathis, age 82, of Meridian, MS, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home. He retired in 2001 as an engineer from Meridian & Bigbee Railroad, after 38 years. He also served in the Mississippi Army National Guard from 1959 to 1965.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dona Mathis, his children; Keith Mathis (Kathy), Todd Mathis (Debbie), Stacey Mathis, and Jennifer Brown, grandchildren; Jordan Mathis (Melissa), Madison Barrett (Chris), Collin Winsbrook (Shelby), Sydney Forman (Ty), Jake Brown, Noah Mathis (Kylie), and Allison Brown, great-grandchildren; Nora Barrett, Charlotte Barrett, Luca Mathis, Anderson Barrett, and Willow Winsbrook, brothers; Richard Mathis (Barbara) and Sammy Mathis (Teresa) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Iva Mathis, brothers, Tommy Mathis and R.D. Mathis.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
