Funeral services for Mrs. Dolly Turner will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Espy officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Dolly Ann "Mama" "Mamaw" Turner was freed from the bonds of the limitations of her earthly body and ran into the arms of Jesus on September 2, 2022.
Dolly was born in Meridian, Mississippi, to Leo and Oneda Littrell on March 26, 1952.
Throughout her life, Dolly enjoyed many activities. She collected thimbles from around the world, remembering each one, when she added it to her collection, and who had given it to her. She was also quite an avid hunter. She was even featured in a hunting article in the Meridian Star. Hunting was such a passion of Dolly's that after she suffered a stroke, she had her husband, Kent, build her a hunting blind that was wheelchair accessible. Crafting was also one of Dolly's interests. The magazine rack beside her chair was always full of crafting magazines. Each magazine was dog-eared and noted with the simple word "this" to keep track of her favorite potential future projects. She found such joy spending time thumbing through them looking for ideas for her next project. Dolly was also an excellent cook. Some of her best dishes were her rice casserole, Martha Washingtons, and her melt-in-your-mouth homemade biscuits. In the last few years, Dolly has enjoyed trips to The Cracker Barrel to eat and shop for cute blouses. Whenever Dolly had control of the TV remote, Hallmark movies, especially Christmas movies would be playing non-stop. Dolly also vacationed the last few summers soaking up the sun on the beach in Florida with her children, grands, and greats.
Dolly was preceded in death by her father, Leo Littrell; mother, Oneda Blackwell; husband, KW Turner; brother, Lee Littrell; and grandson, Johnathan Peebles.
Dolly loved spending time with her family and will be fondly remembered by her children- son, John Peebles (Brandi) of Belton, Texas, and daughter, Amanda Sharp (Brian) of Chunky, as well as her grandchildren, Elisa Holcomb (David) of Copperas Cove, Texas; Kaylee Hebert (Ryan) of Florence, Texas; Dylan Sharp, Eli Sharp, both of Chunky; Jacob Peebles of Belton, Texas; Adisyn Sharp of Chunky; and three great-grandsons, Bryson Holcomb, Noah Ramirez, and Ezra Hebert.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 11:15 a.m. prior to the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions are shared with the American Stroke Foundation, www.americanstroke.org.
