Donald North Funeral services for Donald North will be held Monday, January 5, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Brother David Caves and Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will be in Mississippi Veterans Cemetery, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. North, 64, of Toomsuba, passed away December 31, 2014, at his home. Donald was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. He graduated from Dickinson High School, and after graduation, joined the US Navy and was aboard the USS Forestall. After serving his country, he served his community as a Jersey City Police Officer. He was a highly decorated and highly respected officer upon retirement in 1998, having served the department for 26 ½ years. Mr. North moved to Meridian in 2000 after his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Harriet North; sons, Brian North and his fiancé, Carrie Stamper, Anthony North and his wife, Melanie, and Shawn North; daughter, Jennifer North; grandkids, Zachary North, Connor North, and Katherine North; brothers Richard North, William North, and Kevin North; sisters, Judith Guido and Maureen Ali. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosemarie North. The family requests memorials be made to your local Police Benevolence Association Women's and Children's Fund. Pallbearers will be retired Assistant Chief Jeff Lewis, and other members of the Meridian Police Department. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
