Funeral services for Mr. Donald Porter will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Porter, 84, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Porter retired after 39 years at Colonial Bakery, now Bimbo where he was a bread line supervisor. Following his retirement, he took up woodworking and carpentry and made furniture and anything he set his mind out too. Pawpaw as he was affectionately known by his four grandchildren, loved to travel to his grandchildren’s sporting events whenever possible. Mr. Porter was also an avid hunter and was passionate about hunting and fishing and grew numerous vegetables in his gardens.

Mr. Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Porter; children, Paul Porter, Randy Porter (Kerri), and Rachel Thrash (Austin). Grandchildren, Kaylea Turner (Brandon), Jessica Porter, Christopher Thrash (Molly), and Jonathan Porter. One brother, Frank Porter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mamie Porter; Brothers, Alton Porter, Earl Porter, Grady Porter, and Melvin Porter; sisters, Lorene Rainey, Mary Adelle Wiggins, Tincy Warren, and Berta Lou Porter.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Thrash, Jonathan Porter, Brandon Turner, Randy Williams, Bruce Smylie, and Johnny Thomas.
