Dora Rowell Miles

Funeral services for Dora Rowell Miles will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donald Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at Arkadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Miles, age 82, of the Center Hill Community passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Dora was born in Neshoba County to William Henry McNair “Mac” Rowell and Sallie Ann Chesney Rowell. She graduated from House High School where she played basketball for the House Cats. She married Vester B. Miles on November 25, 1953 and she loved him until the day she died. He spoiled her rotten. Together they raised two daughters. She was an active member of Arkadelphia Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Dora was a member of the Easter Star. She was known at church and the lodge for her cakes. She enjoyed raising a garden and cooking for her family and watching the NBA.

She is survived by daughters, Judy Miles and Joy Joyner (Kent); grandchildren, Trey Lockley (Brandy), Lacey Joyner, Miles Joyner (Cathy Lee), Austin Owen, and Justin Owen; great grandchildren, Riley Lockley, Shea Lockley, Miles Grace Joyner, Lenox Joyner, Ford Joyner, and Sawyer Bennett Joyner; brother, Ardell Rowell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Vester Miles; her parents, Mac and Sallie Rowell; an infant sister; and brother, Odell Rowell.

Pallbearers will be Miles Joyner, Austin Owen, Justin Owen, Kevin Miles, Ricky Miles, and Quitman Lockley.
