Funeral services for Mrs. Doris W. Gipson will begin at 12 Noon, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Dr. Will Wall and Raymon Leake officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Gipson, 90, of Meridian, died Saturday, January 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

A Christian first and foremost, Doris was a faithful Christian serving in her church wherever she was needed and could. Doris was an amazing and loving wife, mother to her three children, and “Ma” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all who knew her.  She and her husband, Hoot, were a team, and very passionate business people. In 1976, together they founded, with the money from the sale of her piano, and operated Gipson Steel. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. She and Hoot were also passionate Mississippi State Supporters and attended countless Football and Basketball Games. Doris loved and appreciated fine art; she supported Art for Heart at Meridian Museum of Art and numerous local artist.

Mrs. Doris is survived by her sons, Scott Gipson, Mark Gipson (Denise), and Keith Gipson (Teresa). Grandchildren, Brandi Dubose, Michael Gipson (Tammy), Christopher Gipson (Kerri), Katie Gipson; Ten great-grandchildren; close friend, and cousin, Pat Gibson, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Mrs. Gipson is preceded in death by her husband, Hoot Gipson; daughter-in-law, Mary Gipson; her parents, Raymond and Willie Belle Walker.

Pallbearers will be Michael Gipson, Christopher Gipson, Thoye Pitts, Roye Pitts, Brandon Griggs, and Rob Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Elton Hogan, Michelle Hollan, Judith Flemming, Jeff Craft, David Ryan, Tim Flynn, Jeff Gardener, Chris Lee, Willie Latham, Scott Morgan, Josh Gibson, Heather Gibson, Melvin Broach, Douglas Gates, as well as her work family at Gipson Steel.

The Gipson family suggests memorials be made as donations to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

The Gipson Family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM prior to funeral rites in the chapel
