Doris Louise Martin

Doris Louise Martin, a native born Meridianite, passed away at age 91, August 3, 2020 from natural causes.  Doris was predeceased by her husband Emmette, parents Ross and Ruby Burnett, brothers Ross Jr. and Floyd, and sister Hazel Breazeale.

She is survived by her Daughter Susan Cumberland (Luke), and Son Bruce Martin (Julie);  grandchildren Annie Cumberland Elliot (Gates), Sara Cumberland Alexander (Bradly), Katie Martin Nides (Dave), Will Craven (Rachael), Wyatt Craven, and great grandchildren Jackson and Henry Elliot, Addie and Grayson Alexander, Josh Nides, Caroline Craven, and a special companion Bobby the cat.

Her career began with Burnett’s Grocery, Bell South Telephone Company, and later landed at the Naval Air Station, Meridian.  She received commendations for exceptional naval service, retiring in 1988.

Doris attended and loved The Episcopal Church of the Mediator. Memorials in her honor may be sent to the Church.  She knew she was loved and we will miss her greatly.  A special thank you to the staff heroes at Aldersgate Retirement Community for all the love and care given to her.

Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private ceremony with immediate family members.
