Services for Doris Evelyn Hatch Mears will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Josh McCrary officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mears, 84, of Meridian died Saturday August 24, 2013 at home. Doris Evelyn Hatch Mears was born on February 12, 1929. She awoke the morning of August 24, 2013, to have breakfast with the love of her life, Arnold Jack Mears, to begin to celebrate their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary and took her last breath by his side. Doris led a Christian life, always taking time for her loved ones, and leaves a legacy of grace and class unmatched. After winning two battles against breast cancer, Doris remained a beacon of quiet strength and bravery to all those who met her. The love she has instilled in her children and grandchildren will live on in her honor. She is survived by the love of her life, Arnold Jack Mears, and her three beloved children, Ronald Mears ( Nancy Mears), of Jackson, MS, Brenda Mears Smith (Ron Smith) of Meridian, MS, and Robert Mears of Meridian, MS. She is also survived by five grandchildren Bill Mears, Rhonda Smith Kavan ( Brad Kavan), Steve Mears ( Elizabeth Mears), Laura Smith ( Aaron Smith), and Amanda Gail Smith, as well as four greatgrandchildren.
