Doris June Morse Thompson

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris June Morse Thompson will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Bob Followell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Thompson, 92, of Lauderdale, died Friday, January 19, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer.  She retired in 1994 as Director of Meridian Public Schools Food Services and was President of the Mississippi School Food Services. She enjoyed flowers, shopping, word search puzzles, and The Food Network.  Doris June will always be remembered for her cooking, but her greatest love was for her family.  Nothing made her happier than cooking for her family unless it was rocking on the porch with Henry, her husband of 71 years.

Mrs. Doris is survived by her daughters-in-law, Rhonda Thompson and Jan Thompson; grandchildren, Travis Thompson (Emily), Brent Thompson (Lacey), Ashley Wheeles (Paul), and Krista Williams (Bart); Seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Leroy Morse, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Henry Thompson; her children Patricia Ann Thompson, Paul Thompson, and Chuck Thompson; her parents, Douglas and Flossie Morse; and her siblings, W.C. Morse, Betty Lou Clark, and Shirley Morse.

The Thompson family would like to thank Home Instead, Deaconess Home Care, Gentiva Hospice, Dr Doug Phillips and his staff. Special thanks to Susan Allison, Mary Beth Gist and Megan McBryde for their loving care.

Pallbearers will be Travis Thompson, Brent Thompson, Paul Wheeles, Bart Williams, Jim Wilson, and Jacob Thompson.
