Doris Thompson Yates

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Thompson Yates will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Walt Tessier officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Doris Yates, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Doris loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with them.

Doris was a dedicated Christian, who loved to serve the Lord. She was a longtime member of Wahalak Baptist Church in Wahalak, MS.

Anyone who knew Doris always stated that she was an “overall wonderful woman”. Doris had many close friends and family and will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Doris is survived by her three children, Steve Yates (Maria Delima), Penny Mayhall (Shannon), and Don Yates; grandchildren, John Kelly Yates (Andie), Justin Yates (Catherine), Victoria Blaylock (Tad), Lee Mayhall (Whitney), and James Kelly Yates (Ryane); nine great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Betty Higginbotham.

Mrs. Yates is preceded in death by her husband, James Kelly Yates; son, James Marcus Yates; parents, Floyd and Myrtle Thompson; one sister, and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be John Kelly Yates, Justin Yates, Lee Mayhall, James Kelly Yates, Tad Blaylock, and Shannon Mayhall.

In lieu of the flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 12:45PM, prior to Chapel services on Wednesday at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
