Graveside services for Mrs. Dorothy Bonner, of Meridian, will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Spring Hill UMC Cemetery in the Zero Community. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Dorothy passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Diversicare in Meridian. She was born September 14, 1931, in Meridian. She grew up in the Tucker Community near Philadelphia. She moved to Meridian as a young adult where she met and married the love of her life Rudolph Bonner.

After raising her family, she attended cosmetology school and opened her own business immediately following graduation. After fifteen plus years, she decided to sell her shop and eventually went to work for the commissary at Naval Air Station Meridian where she retired after ten years of loyal and faithful service. After retirement, she devoted her life to caring for her loving husband who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Dorothy was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making clothes for her family and later in life found a love for quilting. She also enjoyed cooking; especially chicken and rice soup and chocolate cakes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Watson; grandchildren, Blake Watson (Anitra); Niki Denton (Jeff); John Goforth (Kari); Jennifer Langston (Justin); great grandchildren; Sophie Denton; Gracie Denton; Cody Goforth; Conner Mallory; brother, Curt Avera (Brenda); sister, Onita Dedrickson; son-in-law, Terry Goforth (Karen); and former son-in-law, Charles Watson.

Preceded in death by husband, Rudolph Bonner; daughter, Beverly Jeanette Goforth; mother, Eunice Purvis; sister, Nytus Ricks; and brother, James Stovall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
