Funeral services for Dorothy Crane will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Brothers Doug Goodman and Derreck Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Causeyville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Crane, 83, of Causeyville, passed away November 18 at her home.
Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Meridian High School. After graduation, she attended Matty Hersee School of Nursing and worked as an LPN for over fifty years, until her retirement in 2003. She continued to be a caregiver for several years after retirement. Dorothy was a faithful member of Bucatunna Baptist Church and was a very active member of the Causeyville community, especially tending to the elderly and homebound. She was a Godly woman who always put God first and her family learned of His grace by watching her serve Him. Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family’s needs before her own. She was very proud of her grandchildren and never missed any of their activities. She was also a devoted Atlanta Braves fan.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Rawson and husband, Randy, Tommy Crane and wife, Michelle, and Barbara Timms and husband, Lonnie; grandchildren, Amy Rawson, Anthony Rawson, Amanda (Patrick) Taylor, Skylar (Anna) Crane, Pamela (Landon) Eakes, Dori Timms, and Luke Timms; great-grandchildren, Lane Rawson, Paxton Taylor, and Hunter Eakes; sisters-in-law, Leola (Glenn) Jones and Theola Grayson, and brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Myrna) Crane and Donnie (Linda) Moore, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Pamela J. Crane; parents, Dave A. and Hattie Simmons; brothers, Herndal Simmons, Millard Simmons, Leslie Simmons and Dewayne Simmons and sisters, Myrtle Simmons and Vera Watts Jarrell.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Rawson, Skylar Crane, Luke Timms, Patrick Taylor, Landon Eakes, and Randy Rawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Timms and Lane Rawson.
