Dorothy "Dot" Lewis Blalock

Funeral services for Dorothy “Dot” Lewis Blalock will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Burial will be at Chunky Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Blalock, age 82, of Meridian, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, in Meridian.

Dot was born on May 30, 1937, in Chunky, Mississippi, to Mona Grace and Milton A. Lewis. She was a 1955 graduate of Hickory High School. She married her beloved husband, Tom Blalock, on September 23, 1956, in Valdosta, Georgia. They raised three daughters while his career in the United States Air Force took them to various locations around the country and world. Dot worked for many years at McRae’s Department Store in Meridian, retiring in 1991 when she and Tom moved to Louisville to be close to their granddaughters. In recent years, they had returned to Meridian and were attending Northcrest Baptist Church, which their family originally joined in 1972.

Dot is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tom Blalock; daughters, Brenda Blalock (Alan Porter), Kathy Stribling (Pete), and Lisa Watson; grandchildren, Katie Watson Butts (Will) and Maggie Watson Reed (Austin); great-grandson, Wyatt Elton Reed; sisters, Ruth McCraw, Liz Bratu, and Betty Jo Harrelson; and a host of nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milton A. Lewis, Jr. and James Edward Lewis; and son-in-law, Elton E. Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital: 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Jim Lewis, Rick Lewis, Jerry Bratu and Austin Reed.
