Dorothy Joy “Dot” Boykin
Services for Dorothy Joy “Dot” Boykin will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church with Dr. John Temple and Reverend K.T. Smith officiating. Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and the church one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Boykin, 80, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Bedford Care Center of Marion.
She loved her family and will be greatly missed by them.
She leaves behind a son, Robert Michael Horne of Scottsdale, Arizona and daughter Paula Horne Covington (Ken) of Meridian; grandchildren, Alexandra Horne, Keith Covington (Missy), Matthew Covington, Celia Covington (Robert); step grandchildren, Bruck Henne and Haley Henne; great grandchildren, Olivia and Noah Covington; brother, Claude Tillman “Slick” Boykin; sister, Mildred Faye Jackson (Vaden); sister-in-laws, Alice Boykin and Joyce Mosley who she loved as a sister; nieces, Heather Taylor (Kevin), Marsha Patrick, Debbie Moss (Harold), Nita Rudy (David), Rita Roberson (Mike); nephews, Tim Mosley, Carl Mosley (Jackye); and special friends, Patricia Covington, Bobbie Hodges, Sylvia Broughton, Pattie Robinson, Carol Etheridge, Elaine Cunningham and Lee Jowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee “Bob” Boykin and Mattie Taylor Boykin; brother, Clyde Mitchell Boykin; sister-in-law, Lois Virginia Boykin, and nephews, Danny Bryan and Mitch Boykin.
Dot was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Pallbearers will be Keith Covington, Matt Covington, Robert Gooch, David Farris, Cedric Adams, and Antonio Clayton.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Terry French, Dr. Amina Goodwin-Fernandez, and the 2 West caregivers at Anderson Regional Medical Center. We also thank the compassionate staff of Bedford Care Center and Hospice Compassus.
