Dorothy (Dot) Hopper Corbitt

Dorothy (Dot) Hopper Corbitt, 94, affectionately known as "Ganny" to her family and was also known to the many people who loved and admired her as "the Hugger", went home with Jesus on Monday, October 17, 2016.

The celebration of her life and home going will be on Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Meridian, Mississippi with visitation at 10:30 a.m., and the funeral mass to follow at 12:00 noon with Father Matthew Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Meridian Catholic Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Bernard "Bunny" Corbitt, in 1957; her parents, Willie Leon and Mabel McKenzie Hopper; four sisters, Serena, Lolita, Willie Mae, and Grace; and two brothers, Willie Leon, Jr. and Jack.

She is survived by her two sons, Joe and Leon Corbitt; two daughters, Sandra Walker (Maurice) of Brandon, Mississippi and Carol Slye (Mark) of Pelham, Alabama; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; plus nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
