Dorothy Dudden Durapau

November 17, 1926 — October 10, 2023

Graveside service for Dorothy DuRapau will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery with Father Augustine Palimattam officiating, with burial to follow. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

It would be easier to list the activities Dot was not involved in. She quietly worked behind the scenes helping others. Dot was actively engaged over her lifetime of service with the Catholic Community RCIA, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Volunteer Council 802 Knights of Columbus, ACES (Active Christian Enthusiastic Seniors), St Patrick Altar Guild, and St Patrick Sodality. Dot loved her Church community.

She was a member of the Lauderdale County Republican Women and if you vote our local polls, you may have stopped to say hello, without doubt she was there working behind the scenes.

An active supporter of our local Art community, she attended Theater, music, and art events. She and Paul were engaged members of MLT and Dot continued her support long past his loss.

Dot was an avid golfer and could make a mean bourbon on the rocks when persuaded. Most likely a visit with Dot would undoubtedly end with a trip - somewhere. With purse in hand, she was willing and up for adventure. The best pound cake on the face of this earth could be found in her oven and her brownies were sinful and pudge inducing. Her greatest joy was being of service to others. She could be seen out and about Meridian with a smile on her face and love in her heart and if you were lucky enough to interact with Dot, you probably heard her say in her New Orleans cadence "It's a gorgeous day" even if raining.

Dot was a local Realtor and worked as a bookkeeper with King's Daughters and Sons for 25 years.

Survivors include her nieces, Annette Watson, Julie Bruns, and Nephew, Roger Williams; Adopted Meridian family, Donna Jill Johnson, Mary Yarger, Ann Watts, Judy Welge, Beth Barham, and Kim Monroe-Scaggs.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Paul DuRapau, Parents Charles and Julia Dudden Wire, Stepfather Frank Wire, Sister Louise Dudden Williams, and longtime friend Mary Smith.

Knights of Columbus will serve as Pallbearers for burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery.

A host of incredible friends too numerous to mention. You all know she loved each and every one of you and most likely you were the recipient of her prayers whether you knew it or not.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Dot's memory to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
