Dorothy Olive Gordy McKelvaine
Funeral services for Dorothy McKelvaine will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Doug Goodman officiating. Burial will be at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. McKelvaine, age 94, of Meridian passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2016 at her home.
Mrs. McKelvaine was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and an accomplished painter and seamstress; she was also known by many as an excellent baker and creator of beautiful cakes that celebrated many weddings, showers and birthdays. She was an avid gardener with a fondness for daylilies, and always ready to share her flowers and cuttings. She loved animals and enjoyed their company all her life and her love of Jesus was known to all!
She is survived by her three children, W. Dale McKelvaine, his wife, Margie. David C. McKelvaine, his wife, Linda, all of Meridian; Eleanor M. Johnson, her husband, Daniel, of Roswell, NM, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and three sisters, Nell Hammer, Amelia Miller, Mildred Dial, along with numerous nieces and nephew.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. McKelvaine, parents, Mr. and Mrs. I D Gordy, Sr., a brother, I D “Bud” Gordy, Jr. and her grandchild, Guy Scott McKelvaine.
She touched many people in her long life and she will be sorely missed, but her wisdom and strength live on. Let the Angel rejoice, another soul has come home.
Pallbearers will be Roger and Tyler Fant, Mike and Mark McKelvaine, Daniel Johnson, and Darryl Traylor.
