Private graveside services for Dorothy Holland White Smith will be held Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Liberty Baptist Church in Dekalb, Mississippi, with Reverend Paul Trosper officiating, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, age 94 of Meridian passed away on April 14, 2020, her birthday, at NorthPointe Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Smith, a life-long resident of Meridian, MS, was a graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Junior College. She worked for many years in the credit department of Marks Rothenberg Department store before becoming a full-time homemaker, after marrying her high school sweetheart, Elton Wayne Smith in 1945. She enjoyed reading, especially American history, and crocheting. A godly woman and student of the Old Testament, she was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Richard Wayne Smith (Betsey), a daughter, Diana Holland Smith Barrett (Bruce), and grandchildren, David Michael Barrett and Elizabeth Holland Barrett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hanan Gaines White and Manez Darnell White, a sister, Jenoise White, and her husband of 69 years, Elton Wayne Smith.
The family requests memorials be made to Highland Baptist Church.
