Funeral services for Mr. Doug Mathis will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Douglas Vivian Mathis, age 76, of Meridian, MS passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Doug served 29 years of military service where he retired as Chief Master Sergeant with the MS Air National Guard 186th Refueling Group. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Doug's final contribution to others was being a tissue donor for MORA. This benefits burn patients, bone and connective tissue patients as well as research.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Faye Patterson Mathis, children; Kevin Mathis (Kim), Kelli Dedwylder (Greg), step children; Ben Patterson (Dolhia), and Matthew Patterson, grandchildren; Makenzie Miley (J.G.), Dalton Mathis, Whitley Mathis, Ava Dedwylder, Andi Brooke Dedwylder, Lauren Nichols (Dylan), Jackie Patterson, Heather Patterson, Joanna Patterson, Benjamin Patterson, Danielle Patterson, Allison Patterson, and Janetta Patterson, great grandson Levi Nichols, sisters; Faye Williams (Larry) Janice Taylor, and Amelia Mathis, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents Vivian and Oleane Mathis, brother-in-law Priestly Taylor and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in Doug's honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Allen Davidson, Justin Taylor, Greg Dedwylder, Jimmy Harper, Andy Vance, Nathan Taylor and Dudley Williams.
