Dr. Frank Howard Tucker Memorial services for Frank Howard Tucker will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Meridian, MS with Dr. Rhett Payne officiating and Reverend Robert Horel assisting. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dr. Tucker, 74, of Meridian died Friday, April 23, 2010 at his residence. A native of Canton, he graduated from Central High School in Jackson and received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry at Millsaps College. His medical degree was earned at the University of Mississippi, where he also served his internship and residency. In 1968, he became certified with the American Board of Surgery and the following year became a fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He practiced general, thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery for 40 years in Meridian. He was a former chief of staff at Riley Hospital and chief of surgery at Riley and Anderson Hospitals. At the time of his death, he was working at Riley Hospital. Dr. Tucker was a former chairman of the Credentials Committee and president of the MS Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and was also a diplomat with the American Board of Surgery. Active in the community, her served as a ruling elder at First Presbyterian Church, as a board member at Lamar School and also held membership in the Meridian Rotary Club. His is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Thornton (Ricki); sons, Frank Howard Tucker III and his wife, Jean, of Meridian, Judson Thornton Tucker and his wife Debbie, of The Woodlands, TX, Lawrence Ricks Tucker and his wife, Katie, of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Judson Thornton Tucker Jr., Davis Hastings Tucker, Mary Barrett Tucker, Sarah Lawrence Tucker, Frances Elizabeth Tucker, Eva Stewart Tucker, and George Mitchell Tucker; sisters, Frances Olander of Meridian and Ginger Thornton of Madison; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Fred Warren and Mary Barny of Meridian.
