A funeral service for Dr. Joe Ford Jacobs will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastors Bo Kyle and Rhett Payne officiating. Burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Dr. Joe Ford Jacobs, 75, Radiologist at the VA Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, and son of the late Mayor Frank L. Jacobs and Maxine Brock Jacobs of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on May 24, 2025, in Jackson, Mississippi at St. Dominic's Hospital.
Dr. Jacobs was a Mason in the E. J. Knox, King Soloman Lodge #130. He received Masonic degrees in 333 and a master's degree on January, 1972. He belonged to the York Rite Bodies, the Meridian Scottish Rite Bodies, and he belonged to the Hamasa Shrine in Meridian, Mississippi. He was a good member and held it in high esteem. Before this, he was a Demolay as a young teenager. He had a paper route which included the Masonic Home as a teenager.
He leaves his two children, Maxine Eugenia Jacobs and Marcos Sebastian Jacobs, his sisters, Mary Jean Jacobs, Jan Sue Jacobs Rossini (Joe) and honorary sister Brenda Smith Wilson, nephew Joseph Mario Rossini, III (Linda), niece Maria Teresa Rossini Stentz (Blair), and great nephew Blair Baskin Stentz, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents were Dr. Gideon Duncan Brock and Nola Emily Daniel Brock of Meridian, Mississippi, and paternal grandparents were Mr. Robert Jacobs and Maude Pridemore Jacobs of Charlotte, North Carolina, his close Aunt Eugenia Brock, and close uncles John Thomas Brock, William Duncan Brock, and William Earl Jacobs (Lottie).
Special friends and cousins include: Anthony Taylor, Brock Shirley (Betty), Gloria Shirley, Thomas Jacobs, Ella Mae Jacobs Smith (Hal), Howard Homer Jacobs (Jeri), Anne Locke Hintz (Frank), Jillian Hintz, Gordon Locke and Chad Waclawczyk, Dr. Jim Purdy and Sherry Purdy, Alden Wallace, Eddie Wells, Mike Carmichael, Stewart Temple (Cindy), Forrest Mapes (Gigi), Fred Bean, and the close friends who visited him during his hospitalizations.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staffs at Baptist Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi, Regency Healthcare in Meridian, and St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, and Pastors Rhett Payne and Bo Kyle from First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, and Father Augustine from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Meridian who visited and prayed with him in the hospitals.
