Dr. John William Cope

Graveside services for Dr. John William Cope will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Emmaus Cemetery located at 830 East 3rd Street Luverne, AL 36049, with Reverend John Branning officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Dr. Cope, 72, of Meridian, died Friday, June 27, 2025, in Meridian, MS.

John was a wonderful man who gave of himself to others through his God given surgical talents for over 40 years. His practice included Mobile, AL, Pascagoula, MS, Waycross, GA, as well as Meridian, MS and surrounding areas. He was honored to bring medical care on mission trips to Haiti and Peru.  In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed biking, restoring his antique sailboat, and piloting his own plane. He enjoyed competing in triathlons and logging many miles on his bike. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Dr. Cope is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Felicia Cope; his children, Taylor Andrew Cope (Renxian), Charles Haley Cope (Liz), Benjamin Thomas Cope (Emily), William Carter Cope (Emily), Abigail Elizabeth Cope; his grandchildren, Evan Cope, Alex Cope, Miles Cope, Charlotte Cope, and Fiona Cope; his siblings, Elise Bottoms (Jack) and Robert Cope; his loving in-laws, James and Mattie Carter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

John is preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Cope.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Cope, Chip Cope, Ben Cope, Will Cope, Elliot Carter, Doug Gautier, Clark Gautier, and Robert Lang.

The Cope Family request memorials be made as donations to Central United Methodist Church in Meridian in lieu of flowers.
