Dr. Mitchell Andrew Thomas, Jr. A celebration of the life and work of Dr. Mat Thomas will take place with a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, September 25 from 2-4 in the auditorium at Anderson Hospital. Dr. Thomas, age 59, died September 22, 2012 at Anderson Hospital. Dr. Thomas attended Delta State University and University Medical Center in Jackson in 1982. He was a radiologist at Riley and Anderson Hospitals for 30 years. He was an excellent cook, marksman and fisherman. He loved the stories of Louis L'Amour, John D. McDonald and Garrison Keillor. He was so grateful for all his precious friends and coworkers. He dearly loved his wife and 3 children. Survivors include his wife: Marsha Gail Thomas of Meridian, children Andrew Thomas and Amy Breckenridge, Elisabeth Thomas and Michael Thomas. Mother, Betty Thomas of Sanibel Island, Fl. His dearest friends: Duff Durrough, Ronald Terrell, Robert Watkins, Debbie Clemons, Kim Monroe, Tammy Jones, Michael Timmons,Jean Edwards, Scott Gavin and Stuart Thornton. He was preceded in death by his father Mitchell Andrew Thomas, Sr. The Family request that in lieu of flowers: please, order yourself a loaf of chocolate cherry bread from Zingerman's and some fresh Vietnamese cinnamon from Penzeys's.
