Dr. Richard expressed fervent wishes that those in attendance wear his favorite color, red, or a similarly bright or pastel color in lieu of the traditional black. The service will be followed by a meal for family and close friends at Gateway Community Church, 3750 Lauderdale Rd, Lauderdale, MS 39335.
Dr. Richard Edwin Lizak, 69, passed away surrounded by his family after battling a long illness on Friday, October 10, 2025, at his home in Lauderdale, MS. He was born on November 20, 1955, in Southbridge, Massachusetts, son of the late Edwin and Laura (Lupa) Lizak of Warren, Massachusetts.
After graduating high school from The New Hampton School in New Hampshire in 1973, he went on to concurrently attend both Limestone College and Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 and his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1977, respectively. He subsequently moved to Meridian, MS, where he began a career as a distinguished practitioner of Chiropractic Medicine. It was there that he met the first love of his life, Charie Stewart. The two were married in 1988 and were blessed with the second love of his life, their daughter, Dr. Jeannie Megan Lizak, in 1991. The family are members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Meridian, where they continue to attend Mass to this day. Dr. Richard became the owner of a chiropractic clinic at 1900 23rd Avenue in Meridian, which operated under several names including Arrowhead Chiropractic, HealthSource Chiropractic of Meridian, and Meridian Chiropractic, where he brought relief to thousands of patients until he began phasing into retirement in 2022 and was succeeded in this endeavor by his daughter, Dr. J. Megan Lizak. The name Meridian Chiropractic was significant as it was chosen by him and his daughter upon their start of working together as chiropractors. This was very meaningful to both of them.
Dr. Richard is survived by his wife, Charie of Lauderdale, MS; his daughter, Dr. J. Megan Lizak of Lauderdale, MS (Dr. Hunter Burrell); his brother, John J. Lizak of Warren, MA; and beloved pets Louie, Maggie, Mayer, Teddy and Munch. He was the best chiropractor in the world, a shrewd investor and businessman, an avid traveler and scuba diver, and a lover of animals, but adored his family above all else in this world.
In lieu of floral offerings, please make memorial donations in his name to East Mississippi Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 3162, Meridian, MS 39303 - 601-553-3060.
