Dr. William Ray Moore, II Services for Dr. William Ray Moore II, will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmie Garrard and Marvin Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Robert Barham family Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Dr. Moore, 83, of the Whynot community passed away on Friday, November 24, 2011 at the Mississippi Veterans Home, Kosciusko, MS. Dr. Moore was born in Moundsville, West Virginia on November 11, 1928. Dr. Moore served in the Navy and spent 18 months in Vietnam as a physician. Upon his discharge from military service he moved back to his home town to practice family medicine. Soon after, he moved to New Orleans to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After completing his residency in New Orleans, he moved to Meridian where he began his practice in 1963. He delivered countless babies before his retirement in 1995. Dr. Moore was a graduate of The University of West Virginia where he was a member of the Phi Delta fraternity and an avid supporter of West Virginia football and basketball. Dr. Moore is survived by his wife, MarLynne Goodman Moore; his daughter, Tammy Brahan; a son, Steve Moore; a step daughter, Wendi Best and her husband, Chuck; five grandchildren, Ann Marie and John William Brahan, Julia Katherine, Georgia Claire and Sophie Corinne Best; nephew Kevin Moore; grand niece, Kristi Vernon and husband, Zack; brother-in-law, Larry Goodman, sister-in-law, Shirley Nell Goodman and Marie Moore, mother of his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray and Mae Frances Moore, a son, Jeffery Moore and brother, Floyd Moore and niece Sherry Moore. Pallbearers will be Ricky Roy Shirley, Donald Shirley, Jimmy Creel, Kenneth Ray Butler, Rick Davis, Stanley Shannon, and Tommy Joe Butler and Richard Harold Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Woody Abraham, Dr. Thomas Greer, Dr. Kim McDonald, Gerald Mitchell, and members of the Columbia Investment Club. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 8 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.
