E.C. Bancroft, Jr.

Funeral services for Eddie Currance Bancroft, Jr. will be held Monday, October 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bancroft, age 87, of Meridian, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at the State Veterans Home in Collins, Mississippi.

He was born in Meridian, Mississippi and was a lifelong member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Chairman, Sunday School Superintendent, Training Union Director and was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. E.C. graduated from Meridian High School then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning, he earned his Bachelors of Science in Business at the University of Southern Mississippi. He started his career with Proctor and Gamble, then moved back to Meridian and went to work with Magnolia Mills, where he became a partner. He finished his career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Bailey Bancroft; children, Bruce Bancroft and wife, Tina, Scott Bancroft and wife, Alicia, and Ann Weddington and husband, Alex; grandchildren, Sloan and Trinity Bancroft, Lindsey, Conner and Eli Bancroft and Bailey Weddington; great granddaughter, Ella Rose Martin; sister-in-law, Bettye Bancroft; brother-in-law, Bob Bailey and wife, Amanda; and nieces and nephews, Pat Shumaker, Bryan Shows, Jack Shows, Pam Morrow, Ramsey Bancroft, Hayes Dent and Richard Dent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. Bancroft, Sr. and Birdie Means Bancroft; brother, Harold Bancroft; and sister, Geraldine Shows.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Conner Bancroft, Eli Bancroft, Bryan Shows, Jack Shows, Alex Weddington and Kenny Griffis.
