Ed Johnson

Funeral services for Mr. Ed Johnson and Mrs. Sally Johnson will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, January 5, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with the Reverends Franklin Denham and Mason Kiple officiating. A Private Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Johnson, 73, of Meridian, died Friday, December 29, 2023 at his home.  In God’s abundant mercy, Ed was only allowed to live on this earth without his wife, Sally, for just under forty-eight hours. We praise God for the gift of Ed and Sally, and the powerful testimony of their marriage and faithfulness to one another.

Ed grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and graduated from Meridian High School in 1968.  He then attended Mississippi State University where he pursued engineering studies. After college, Ed pursued work in the construction field, and would eventually build upon that knowledge and experience to pursue more education and entrepreneurial opportunities. Ed founded Bonita Properties, Inc. with his late business partner Hardy P. Graham, Sr. during the 1980s and 1990s. He continued to act as President and CEO until his death.

Ed provided the community of Meridian and its surrounding areas with many job opportunities, commercial real estate and healthcare access. Although the fruits of his labor positively affected many in this community, Ed solely pursued his work to provide well for his wife, children and grandchildren. His leadership as a faithful husband, father and businessman is a direct result of his unwavering faith in God and the promises found within His word. Ed will be terribly missed by his family and friends, but we rejoice in knowing he is with his bride now giving all glory to God forevermore! We praise God for the gift this man was to all he knew. We love you so much, Daddy.

Ed is survived by his children, Dr. Kristen Johnson Gunn (Drew) and Eddie Johnson, Jr. (Kristi); grandchildren, Luke Andrew Gunn, Bo Alexander Gunn, Wyatt Johnson Gunn, Parker Emmeline Gunn, Nicholas Lee Vinet, Kinlee Jae Johnson, and Sawyer Lamar Johnson, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sally Johnson; his parents Lamar and Ruth Johnson.

The Johnson family suggests memorials may be made as donations to the East Mississippi Veterans Foundation, www.esmvf.org or to Marion Police Department in lieu of flowers.
