Graveside services for Edith L. Covington Hamner will be held Thursday, January 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with Reverend Harvey Troutman officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edith L. Covington Hamner, 73, adored mom, wife and friend passed away December 31, 2017, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.

She is survived by her husband James K Hamner, daughter Angie Covington, son Donald Covington, and step-son Ken Hamner.  She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Barbara Covington Sowers and her parents, Cleve and Mary Dial Weaver.  She had five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Edith was a retired school teacher for Southeast Elementary.  She also taught Sunday School at Center Ridge Baptist Church.  She was an avid gardener who loved being outdoors and could spend an entire day fishing.  She and her husband were members of the Shooting Stars square-dancing club and devoted leaders in their community always ready to help anyone at any time.  She was an amazing cook who loved having her family over to visit and as the true southern lady she was; she tended to overfeed them.  We will miss every day; so, this is not goodbye, but see you later mom.  Pallbearers are Ken Hamner, Brian McDevitt, Buddy Craddock, Jay Craddock, Nick Craddock, William Jones, and Ray Boren.
