Edith "Granny Bob" Simmons Funeral service for Bobbie Simmons will be held Monday, August 4, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Paul Davis and Brother Jack Kern officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Simmons, 92, of Meridian passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing with the Aldersgate Choir and the Singing Saints. She had a servant's heart and loved helping others. Bobbie Simmons was an inspiration to all those around her but she was affectionately known as "Granny Bob". She loved her church and church family. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Cook and her husband, John; grandson, Johnny Cook and wife, Angie; and granddaughter, Paige McDonald; great-grandchildren, Phillip and Morgan McDonald and Kim Cook and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Simmons; parents, Ed and Lucille Tinnin; two brothers and one sister. The family request memorials be made to the Gideon International or Northcrest Baptist Church Vision Fund. The family wishes to express a special thanks to everyone at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.
