Edna Byrd Hodges

Funeral services for Edna Hodges will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in the Martin Community with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Byrd Hodges, age 93, long-time resident of the Martin Community, passed away the 2nd day of February 2018, at the Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley, Mississippi.

She is survived by: son, Max; daughter, Lana and husband, Ike; sister, Bonnie; brother, Joe; grandchildren, Monica, Matt, Michele, and Christie; great-grandchildren, Ashlynd, Max, Nicholas and Caleb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: parents, Joe and Indola; brothers, Odell and Ernest; and sisters, Myrt, Vinnie, Vera, Loree, Romona and Edwina.

Edna was born on February 13, 1924 to Joe and Indola (Saterfiel) Byrd. Edna married Maxwell Hodges, and lived in Texas, Washington, Germany and New Mexico. In later years, she returned to Meridian, Mississippi where she worked and retired from East Mississippi State Hospital. She enjoyed being a member of Faith Baptist Church where she participated in the choir. She loved to travel with her church group and family members.
