Edna Hooks McDonald Services for Edna Hooks McDonald will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, with Reverend William F. "Skip" Atchison and Reverend Jeff Dalton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Springs Southern Methodist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. McDonald, 96, of Meridian died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Waynesboro Personal Care Home. Mrs. McDonald was a member of Poplar Springs United Methodist Church and was active in the May Circle and in the Friendship Sunday School Class. Previously she lived in Quitman, Mississippi for sixteen years and was very active in the community and First United Methodist Church. Mrs. McDonald worked at J.C. Penney and Marks Rothenburg and she also taught sewing at the Singer Sewing Machine Store. She was the last surviving member of her 1933 graduating class of Center Hill School. Survivors include her son Reverend Paul McDonald and his wife Clemmie of Forest, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband Lamar McDonald, parents Henry Edward and Ida Pearl Hooks, and her brothers Lester Hooks and Louie Hooks. The family requests memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Dr. Todd Clayton, John Eakes, Mark McDonald, Gary McDonald, Glenn Parker, Joe Purcell and Steve Winstead.
