Edward N Tidwell

Funeral services for Mr. Edward Tidwell will be held Monday, November 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Dan Lanier and Dr. Malcolm Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Tidwell, age 84, of Meridian, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Mr. Tidwell was born December 28, 1932 in Dennis, MS to Maurice and Lera Carr Tidwell. He grew up in Dennis and graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1952. After graduating from High School, he was accepted at Northeast Mississippi Junior College on a basketball scholarship, but he decided to join the United States Air Force instead. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Tidwell worked for twenty years as a meteorologist. Along with his other accomplishments, he earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Florida State University. He was an active member and deacon of Northcrest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Nina J. Tidwell; children, Harry D. Martin and Barry (Sally) Martin; grandchildren, Stephanie D. Weisman and Heather Martin; great-granddaughter, Savannah Connor; and brothers, Jimmy Tidwell, Jerry (Linda) Tidwell, Boyd Lee (Sandra) Tidwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold Tidwell; and his sister-in-law, Maedean Tidwell.
