Funeral services for Edward White will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Jimmy Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at Mississippi State Veterans Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. White, age 79, of Meridian went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 29, 2015 at his residence. Ed White has lived in the Long Creek community for the past 44 years and was a member of many organizations including Long Horn Riding Club, Long Creek Baseball, and Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. Ed loved working on his farm and once had over 50 cattle and 5 horses to tend to. Ed served in our armed forces in the Air Force, then in the Army National Guard as a helicopter and airplane mechanic. While in the military he received his Expert Badge for pistol. Ed served our country for six years and was a proud veteran and American. Ed retired from Peavey's where he worked for over 25 years. He loved camping, especially if it involved Blue Grass gatherings. One of the fondest memories family will have of Ed White will be his infamous Easter egg hunts. There would be over 10 dozen hard boiled eggs and you weren't allowed to begin the feast of eating them until ALL were accounted for, then he would give in when the count was within four. He is survived by his son, Edward F. "Eddie" White Jr. and his wife, Angela Maxey, and daughter, Donna Anderson and her husband, Andy; grandchildren, Charlotte Green, Joshua White, Katie Anderson, Luke Mathis and Emily Mathis; one great-grandchild, Alden Anderson Green; and his sister, Frankie Thomley. He also left behind one more very important member of the family, Napolean Bonaparte Katie's Shiloah "Shiloah". Ed loved his bassett hound more than anything, and they went everywhere together. Shiloah will be spending the rest of his days in comfort with Katie Anderson and Missa Damiens. Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Ruth White; his parents, George and Bertha Mae Scruggs White; and siblings, Jack White, Alton "Cooney" White, Harold "Buck" White, Lois Molphus, Anita Ivy, Eloise Whitehead, and Ernestine Milstead. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make any donations, in his name, to your favorite charity or church. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
