Funeral services for Elaine J. Spence will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 1:00 pm at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Brother Macon Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Causeyville Baptist Church Cemetery, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Spence, 76, of Enterprise, passed away Sunday, May 31, at Regency Hospital. Mrs. Spence was born and raised in the Causeyville community and went to Beat Four School. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Meridian and became a nurse at the age of seventeen. She spent her entire nursing career in the Meridian area. She was known for her homemade and handmade gifts, such as pickles, chocolate pies, afghans, and baby blankets. She is survived by her sons, William Morris Spence II and his wife, Tiffney, and Phillip Martin Spence; her grandsons, William Morris Spence, III and Joshua Stewart Spence; two brothers, Ron Shirley and Ricky Joe Shirley; two nieces and numerous nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Spence; her parents, Martin and Janelle Shirley; brother, Perry Shirley. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
