Elizabeth "Elaine" Brown

A private graveside service for Mrs. Elaine Brown will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Decatur Cemetery. The Reverend Morris Thompson, III will officiate the service. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Brown, age 86, of Meridian passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at her residence.

Elaine attended East Central Community College, The University of Southern Mississippi, where she received a BS Degree in Music Education, and The University of Swannee, where she received a degree in Theology. Elaine was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Mediator where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Elaine was founder of the music program at Lamar School. She also gave private vocal and piano instruction from her home over a span of fifty years. Elaine enjoyed being at her home surrounded by her flowers. She also enjoyed her family time, especially spending time with and talking to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Cheri Brown-Howle (Mike) and Jack Brown (Gale); and her grandchildren, John Howle, Heather Howle, Martha Howle, Spence Brown, and Bradley Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Edsel J. “E.J.” Brown; her parents, Howard and Annie Lou Spence; and her brothers, Jessie Spence and Bill Spence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Special Olympics of Mississippi.
