Elizabeth Phine Upton Carney

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Carney will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rutherford Family Cemetery in Lauderdale. The family will receive guests from 4:30 until 6:30 on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Carney, age 63, of Lauderdale passed away on July 6, 2026 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Elizabeth had a green thumb and could truly grow anything. She worked for many years at Van Zyverden. She enjoyed crocheting and her cats and dogs. Elizabeth will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She could often be found making delicious meals for her family - especially her unmatched homemade cornbread dressing and potato salad.

She is survived by her husband of almost fifty years, Johnny Carney; children, Kasey Atkins (Timothy), Cassie Caton (Francisco), Matthew Carney (Gabrielle), and John Carney; grandchildren, Joshua Atkins, Rebekah Atkins, Rachel Atkins, Anna Atkins, Daniel Caton, Benjamin Lovette, Kaiden Carney, Stephanie Carney, Dakota Carney, Harley-Anne Carney, Harvest Carney, Katie Carney, and Rylan Carney; one great-grandchild, Zavan Atkins; brother, Larry Upton; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Carney; mother, Dorothy Rutherford; grandparents, Eli and Willie Mae Rutherford.
