Elizabeth Hester
Visitation for Elizabeth Hester will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Union Baptist Church in Clarke County. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m, with burial following immediately after the service in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hester died on Monday November 30, 2015 in Gautier, MS, surrounded by family members while under Hospice Care. Elizabeth was born on May 1, 1920 to George Addison Fontaine and Mary Viola (Williams) Fontaine. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in the Clarkdale community south of Meridian and attended Clarkdale School, where she graduated from high school. She attended Clarke College, graduating with an associate’s degree in the midst of the great depression. After graduation, she went to work at the bureau of engraving and printing in Washington DC where she met and married Leo Hester. While he was deployed to the Philippine Islands during WWII, she returned to Clarke County Mississippi, where they settled after his discharge. They were happily married for 59 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Marian (Don) Trigg of Gautier; son, David (Helen) Hester of Billings, Montana.; daughter-in-law, Melissa Hester of Hurley, Mississippi; granddaughters, Donna (Edward) Bagwell of Gautier, Dr. Maria Hester (Jake) Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas, Chasitie Hester of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Memori Hester of Hurley, Mississippi; grandsons, Troy (Lindsey) Trigg of Gautier and Jonathan Hester of Little Rock, Arkansas, as well as several great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Leo M. Hester and her son, Jonathan F. Hester.
