Services for Elizabeth Cleveland Wilson Lyle will be held Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012 at 12:00 noon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the churches Rector, J. Brian Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Elizabeth Cleveland Wilson Lyle dearly loved her husband Richard, who died before her, her sons Dick and Albert, her grandsons Wilson, Patrick and Charles, and wives Susan and Heather and her great grandchildren Elizabeth and Jack. She also loved St Paul's Episcopal Church and her great friend Hilah Skewes. Elizabeth was born in Meridian in 1910 and, at the age of three moved to New Orleans with her mother Viva Houston Wilson and father Albert Andrew Wilson when he became a member of the New Orleans Cotton Exchange. She graduated from Newman High School where she won the gold medal for excellence in Latin, tennis and basketball. She then graduated from Sophie Newcomb College and received her Master's degree from Tulane. After they married, Elizabeth and Richard moved to Meridian where she lived the remainder of her long life. She enjoyed substitute teaching and buying and selling houses. In the 1940's she wrote the Sunday column, "Talk of the Town" under the nom de plume Jenny Reb for the "Meridian Star". Later, with her boys grown, she worked in Quality Control with the State Welfare Department. Elizabeth had great energy, was friends with everyone, and with her outgoing personality she loved telling stories about her growing up in New Orleans and early days in Meridian. One story she loved to tell was about the day her father took her downtown in New Orleans for the celebration of the end of WWI. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 12 noon at St Paul's Episcopal Church
