Eloise Turnage Burke Funeral services for Eloise Turnage Burke will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Freeman, Reverend Ross Burnside, and Bess Burnside officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in the Duffee Community. Mrs. Burke, age 90, of the Duffee Community, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Burke accepted the Lord in the Meehan Methodist Church, she has been a member of the Salvation Army and many Baptist Churches over the years. When she went to be with the Lord she was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She raised her children as Baptists and she was a Sunday school teacher from age eight to eighty eight. This is why her family choose for her to be buried holding a new testament and a handkerchief. Her life revolved around witnessing and she was known as a prayer warrior. She worked for AT&T for 37 years. She was a job steward. There were many that would have lost their position, had it not been for her fighting for them in a Christian way. She was Irish and very gentle and kind, but you also knew she was Irish. She is survived by her children, William David Burke (retired marine biologist in Ocean Springs, MS) and Ava Louise Wells (retired nurse in Meridian, MS); 3 grandsons, Tommy Leigh, William Cecil, and Eugene Carter; granddaughter, Annie Meaghin; 2 great grandchildren, Tommy Leighvon and Breeman Ernest/Burke; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late, William Otho Burke. She was the daughter of Elijah Arthur and Ava Missouri Turnage. She is the last of her siblings. Her brothers were Rudolph, Lige, Jessie, Dub, and Frank. Her sisters were Eula Mae, Margie, and one still born sister. Pallbearers will be her great grandson's best friends.
