Elton "Wayne" Crawford Funeral services for Wayne Crawford will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Wade Ricks and Nathan Trosper officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Crawford, 70, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his home. Wayne was a 1963 graduate of Meridian High School. He was a dedicated fire fighter with the Meridian Fire Department for nearly 25 years and the Air National Guard Fire Department for almost 20 years. He attended First Baptist Church of Collinsville. Wayne was an avid sports fan and a loyal supporter of the West Lauderdale Knights Baseball Team. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Diane Crawford; children Denise Crawford Vaughn (Joey) and Greg Crawford (Jennifer); grandchildren, Emily Vaughn Lott (David), Taylor Crawford, Cody Crawford, and Lanie Crawford; brother, Frankie Crawford (Carolyn); sisters, Dorothy Rawls, Leaverne Culpepper (Raymond), and Sarah Curry; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest G. Crawford Sr. and Irene Crawford; and brothers, Ernest G. Crawford Jr. and Thomas Eugene Crawford. Pallbearers will be Jerry May, Keith Goodson, Richard Moody, Joe Lannon, Kevin Rose, and Tommy Buckalew. The family request memorials be made to the ALS Association.
