Emma Jean Russell

Services Celebrating the life of Mrs. Emma Jean Russell will be held at a later date with her loving family and friends. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Russell, 78, of Meridian, died Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Emma loved life and enjoyed working for over 30 years at Super Stop on Hwy 19 where she was known by many as “Mean Jean.” She also worked at Waffle House at 22nd Ave Heights for many years. She loved to work on word puzzles and enjoyed watching Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. She was a fiercely independent woman and always helped to provide for her family.

Mrs. Emma is survived by her children, Debbie Millstead, Donna Turbville (Kenneth Quigley), and James Chisolm. Grandchildren, Christpher Kynerd, William Turbville, Randall Chisolm, and Katie Kynerd. Great-grandchildren, Dakota Lane Turbville and Dawson Luke Turbville; her brother, Mack Boatner, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. Russell is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Russell, Jr.; her son, Randy Chisolm; her parents Sydney and Edith Boatner; and her siblings, Clyde Boatner, Sydney Boatner, John Boatner, Gladys Hughes and Evelyn McDaniel.
