Private graveside services for Mrs. Eugenia Elizabeth Langston Barnett will be Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at New Hope Cemetery in Carthage, MS with Reverend Kenneth Owen officiating.  Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Eugenia (Jeanie) Elizabeth Langston Barnett, age 92, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away May 8, 2020, at Aldersgate Senior Assisted Living Facility surrounded by her family.

Jeanie was born in Leake County, Mississippi, on February 14, 1928, and grew up in and around Carthage, Mississippi. In her youth, she enjoyed basketball. Jeanie worked as a nurse for Dr. Scott in Carthage as a young adult. Later she began working for McRae’s when the store opened in Meridian in the 1970s and enjoyed serving her customers there for more than 20 years until her retirement.

Jeanie was a beautiful, dedicated, loving, selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed traveling with her husband on business trips and family on wonderful family vacations. She and J.B. were active members of First Baptist Church of Meridian and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Jeanie enjoyed fishing with friends and family.

Jeanie is survived by her sons, Johnny Barnett (Christy), Sidney Barnett (Louann), and James Barnett (Pam); her grandchildren, Taylor Davis (James), Whitney Walley (Alan), Michael Johnston (Margaret), Hailey Burns (Beau) and Allie Barnett; her great-grandchildren, Modi, Elijah, Rushton and Maguire.  She is survived by three nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings Bryan (J.B.) Barnett; her parents, Johnny Masters Langston and Viola Cannon Crane and her brother, H. V. Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Aldersgate Sunday Fund.
