Funeral services for Mrs. Farris Vernell “Nell” Laird Dorman- Swanner will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Mike Boles officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Nell, 100, of Vimville, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Neshoba County Nursing Home.

Lovingly known as “Mama Nell” by her children and grandchildren, she was a faithful member of Evangel Temple and had a perfect Sunday School attendance record for 36 years straight. She was an avid walker and prayer warrior for all family members and friends she knew. Mrs. Nell was always positive and strong, having grown up in difficult times; making the best of all situations. She was a living example of a Christian, teaching her children and grandchildren to follow the ways of the Lord in all areas of her life. She was always there for anyone’s needs at any given time always having a giving spirit and willing heart.

Mrs. Nell is survived by her children, Billy C. Dorman (Theresa), Carol Edmonds (Richard), Bonnie James (Lewis), Rickey Swanner (Melissa). 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren with one on the way; one sister, Carolyn Smith as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Nell is preceded in death by parents, Edna Mae Laird; Ibe and Myrtie Belle Laird; husbands, William “Sam” Dorman, and Lin Swanner; daughters, Patsy Taylor and Lana Booker; and two grandchildren, Lisa McReynolds and John Booker.

The family requests memorials be made as donations to Evangel Temple Church in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Nell’s grandchildren.
