Fay Alday Sturdivant Funeral services for Fay Alday Sturdivant will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church with Reverend Dewayne Warren officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church cemetery in Kemper County with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Sturdivant, age 90, of Meridian, passed away Friday, February 06, 2015 at Silver Leaf Manor. Mrs. Sturdivant was born on September 10, 1924 in Kemper County. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, The Jimmy Rodgers Foundation, and Tisba. She worked as a tailor and also worked at Van Zyverden, Mayweb Hosiery Mill, and S & H Kress. She also enjoyed traveling the world. Survivors include her daughter, Jane Sturdivant Lester; granddaughter, Kimberly Land and husband, Brian; grandson, John Lester; great grandchildren, Ian Hukari, Erik Hukari and Madison Land, all of Somerset, Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sturdivant; son, Joe Sturdivant; parents, Walter Lee and Ester Jane Alday; and sisters, Sue Mayer, Edith Edwards, and Dorothy Hagan. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to: Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Sheila Mattar, P O Box 677, Dekalb, MS 39328.
