Faye Raines Robinson, age 95, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. Born on August 23, 1930, in Starkville, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Raines and one of nine children. After graduating from Starkville High School, she married the love of her life, Victor Joseph "VJ" Robinson, on August 25, 1948.

Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and the quiet pleasures of home and community. In 1965, they acquired the Western Auto Store, where they served their neighbors with pride for many years.

Above all else, Faye loved her family fiercely. She was a steady, unwavering presence, generous with her time, devoted in her care, and never shy about offering her opinion, whether you asked for it or not. Her family always knew they were deeply loved, closely watched over, and that she would be there, without question, whenever they needed her.

She was a woman who never backed down from a bargain or a bet. She could be found hunting for a deal, casting a fishing line, or trying her luck at the casino. Whatever she was doing, she brought the same energy and determination to it that she brought to everything in life.

Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Joseph "VJ" Robinson; her siblings, Vera Jenkins (Bill), Doris Chesteen (Vernon), J.B. Raines, Jr. (Sarah), Maxine Condit, Joyce Garnet (J.B.), Maye Morrow (Bill), Jim Raines (Peggy), and Ishmael Vann (Viola); her daughters-in-law, Jan M. Robinson and Deborah N. Robinson; and her son-in-law, John Melton McDonnell.

She is survived by her son, Bill Robinson (Bet Caldwell); her daughter, Vicky McDonnell; her grandchildren, Bridgett R. Green (Roger), Carrie M. Wadlington (Jim), and Jenn M. Northam (John); her great-grandchildren, Tyler Green, Jack and Sam Wadlington, and Frances and John Melton Northam; and a large and loving extended family of nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff of North Pointe Health and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; First Presbyterian Church, 307 University Drive, Starkville, MS 39759; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
