Floyd Herbert Blundell Graveside service for Floyd Herbert Blundell will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with Brother Richard Cothern officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. On August 27, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones, our daddy went home to be with the Lord. Mr. Blundell, 95, of Enterprise died at his home. Mr. Blundell was born on October 7, 1916, to William Grant Blundell and Florence A. Blundell in Chetopa, Kansas, where he lived until he joined the United States Army in 1942. He served as a tank commander under General Patton and General Omar Bradley on the front line during World War II. Mr. Blundell served his country with bravery and valor at Normandy, France, Hurigen Forest, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Bronze Star given for service above and beyond the call of duty and also the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Sammie Jean Edmondson Blundell. They married on October 17, 1946. From their union came three daughters. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Sammie Jean Edmondson Blundell, daughters Ann Kavanaugh of Madison, Mississippi, Jo Rhett and husband Ellis of Corinth, Mississippi and Belinda Hatten and husband Neil of Enterprise, Mississippi; grandchildren Shelley Lindsay and husband Telford of Madison, Mississippi, Haley Bianchini and husband Ryan of Jackson, Mississippi, Parker Rhett and wife Libby of Memphis, Tennessee, and Sarah Elizabeth Rhett Falanga and husband Grey of Jonesboro, Arkansas; great-grandchildren Anna Grace Lindsay, Riley Blundell Bianchini, Hadley Elizabeth Rhett and William Ellis Rhett. The family wishes to express gratitude to Sta-Home Health and Sta-Home Hospice for the compassion and care of our daddy. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Palmer Home, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, Mississippi 39703-9983. Pallbearers will be Ellis Rhett, Neil Hatten, Parker Rhett, Grey Falanga, Ryan Bianchini, and Telford Lindsay.
