Frances L. Perkins Graveside services for Frances Perkins were held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. John Temple officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Gladys Frances Lowe Perkins, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi, and was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Perkins; brother, Garland Lowe, of Conyers, GA; daughter-in-law, Angela Corr Perkins, of Longview, TX; and her parents, Charles and Elsie Lowe, of Laurel, MS. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Perkins Jones and husband, Jerry, of Birmingham, AL; son, Dr. bill Perkins, of Longview, TX; granddaughter, Kelly Jones Carr and husband, Dr. Ben Carr, of Gadsden, AL; granddaughter, Dr. Laura Perkin, and grandson, David Perkins, both of Longview, TX; great grandsons, Jack and Max Carr, of Gadsden, AL; sister, Helen Lowe Childers, of Pearland, TX; nieces, Joan Jernigan Rhett and Elaine Jernigan Reynolds, both of Columbus, MS, and Patricia Lowe Cross, of Conyers, GA; nephews, Robert Childers and Charles Childers, both of Pearland, TX, and Philip Lowe, of Conyers, GA; and many great nieces and great nephews. She will be missed by friends whom she included special - Gail Corr, of Longview, TX; Dr. Christy Corr Robinson, Dr. Matt Robinson, Sophie and Emma Robinson, all of Austin, TX; Betty and James Booth, and Jerry McCay, of Meridian, MS, who were always checking on and caring for her; and members of her Sunday School class at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She loved talking about baseball with her son and pageants with her daughter. She loved working in her yard, and she was gifted with her hands in doing needlework. She celebrated and loved her independence. She was able to live on her own until the last six months. She was a survivor of colon cancer at the age of 40. She celebrated her 87th birthday in the hospital. She was at peace with the Lord and ready to make the journey home, so we celebrate her passing with peace and comfort and joy for those she will see again in heaven and for the hope of our journey there.
