Memorial Services for Eddie Holladay will be held Friday, September 28th at 11:00 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Meridian, MS. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Eddie Holladay, 89, was born in Meridian, May 18, 1929. Eddie joined his Lord Monday, September 24th (his late wife’s birthday) at his home.
Eddie graduated from Meridian High, then attended the 13th grade at Meridian High School which was the predecessor to Meridian Community College. In 1950 he received his college degree from LSU. He returned to Meridian and began his career in radio broadcasting, where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Sanders. They made Meridian their forever home. He has owned radio stations in many communities in the southeast. Eddie served as President of the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters. He enjoyed covering local politics and broadcasting live during bad weather events. Eddie was a broadcaster in the truest sense. His two sons and grandson continue his radio broadcast legacy.
Eddie has been very active in his community. He has served several terms on the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Vestry, serving a term as Senior Warden. He has also been active serving on the Meridian Community College Foundation Board for twenty years, including one term as president. He served on the Meridian Airport Advisory Board, and also was a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Eddie loved, and was loved by his family. He is survived by two sons, Bob (Sherri) and Clay (Laura). Eddie has six grandchildren, Hanson, Rob, Barbara Ann, Bryan (Rosilyn), Greer, and Brooks. Two step grandchildren, AJ and Cody Carlson. Eddie also is survived by Annie Gowdy, a wonderful caregiver and friend for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Sanders Holladay, his parents, Walter Robert and Rosalie, as well as a brother, Walter Bob, and sister, Margery Brophy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Eddie Holladay Memorial.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
