Fredareika Grace Acree

Graveside services for Fredareika “Fritz” Grace Acree will be Saturday, September 30, at 11:00 am at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Mark A. Benson officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Acree, age 96, of Marion, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Bedford Care Center of Marion, MS.

Fritz was the oldest of three daughters (Betty Cole and Beverly Jones (deceased) of Fort Smith, AR) born to Clarence and Grace Jordan. She was born May 12, 1921 in Okmulgee, OK. She married Herbert L. Acree of Okmulgee, OK on June 1, 1940 and was happily married until his passing February 22, 1996. Also preceding her death were son, Herbert Acree of Sunnyvale, TX, and daughter, Phyllis Pettey of Meridian, MS. She is survived by her son, M. C. “Corky” Acree and his wife Lori of Chelsea, OK; grandsons Dr. David Pettey and his wife Heather of Germantown, TN, Phil Acree and his wife Nya of Orlando, FL, Lance Acree and his wife Annessa of Broken Arrow, OK, and Bryan Acree and his wife Brettney of Sunnyvale, TX, and 11 great-grandchildren.

The Acree’s lived in Meridian since 1942 and all their children graduated from Meridian schools. Fritz was a stay-at-home mom until after the children left home.  She then worked for 20+ years at the Senior Citizens facility in Meridian teaching knitting, tatting and crochet. She loved to fish as well as travel with her husband in their camper.
